Onitsha
(Anambra) – The Nigerian Army has promoted 103 soldiers of the 302 Artillery
Regiment, Onitsha in Anambra.
Decorating
the newly promoted soldiers on Monday, the Commander of the regiment, Col.
Jubrin Fagge, said that the promotion was meant to spur them to duty.
Fagge
called on the soldiers to maintain professionalism by being loyal to their
supervisors and officers.
He said
“I am happy and delighted for this great gesture the Chief of Army Staff (COAS)
and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army,
Enugu did for the regiment.
“The
regiment assures the COAS and GOC that the soldiers would be up and doing and
would not let them down.
“The
soldiers should remember that promotion comes with added responsibility and
re-dedication to duty, as well as greater need for them to follow strictly the
instructions of officers placed over them.’’
The
commander advised the promoted soldiers to take care of their families “because
the promotion goes with increase in salaries and as such, your families should
enjoy part of it.’’
The
Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr Hosea Karma, who was special guest at the
occasion, also advised the soldiers not to attach themselves to duties not
assigned to them.
Karma
urged them to be responsible, especially in the line of duty.
He added
that “wherever you find yourself; be careful; so that you do not get yourself
entangled in what does not follow your professional calling as a trained
soldier.’’
Sgt.
Taminu Mohammed, one of the promoted soldiers, said that the promotion had
uplifted his morale to contribute more to the Nigerian Army. (NAN)
