The
Sokoto Stae government has proposed a budget of N112.6b for the 2015 fiscal
year. The state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Isa Bajini,
announced this after the State Executive Council meeting which was presided
over by Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
According to Bajini, N50.6 billion
was earmarked for recurrent expenditure while N61.7 billion is for capital
expenditure in the proposal christened “Consolidation and Renewal” He said the
shortfall in this year’s budget is as a result of the crash in oil prices,
adding that the internally generated revenue of the state was facing crisis
which also contributed to the reduction of the state budget. The Commissioner
also added that the bulk of the 2015 budget would be geared towards improving
the welfare of the people through projects which have direct bearing on them.
Also speaking to reporters, the Commissioner for Information, Malam Danladi
Bako, said efforts were being made to improve the quality of life of the
people.
