No fewer than 504 health workers
trained by the Federal Government in collaboration with the African Union
Commission on Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, management will Thursday this week
depart to Ebola- affected countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
Meanwhile,
the Commonwealth Medical Association, West African Region, has urged the
Federal Government to ensure that all necessary conditions that would guarantee
safety including a comprehensive life insurance cover are provided before the
departure of the volunteers.
Speaking
at the three-day training of the first batch of the contingent comprising 250
doctors and volunteers in Lagos, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal
Ministry of Health, Mr. Linus Awute, who was represented by the Director,
Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control, Prof. Abdulsalamin Nasidi said the move
was to assist the affected countries.
