Non release of Anambra APGA primaries results causes tension -

AWKA—ANXIETY and confusion yesterday continued to trail last week’s ward congress of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra State, results of the primaries, were still unreleased.

Already, some of the aspirants to the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly threatening a showdown with the governor, Chief Willie Obiano, who was allegedly compiling a list favourable to his anointed candidates.
Though serving commissioners in the state acted as returning officers during the congress and conducted the exercise according to the rules, the governor was alleged to be unsatisfied with the outcome of the congress in most of the 326 wards.
It was gathered that the governor invited the state chairman of the party, Chief Mike Kwento, for a full briefing on the outcome of the congress.
According to source, in Anambra South Senatorial District, the governor was said to be favourably disposed to returning the former vice chairman of the Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, Chief Enest Ndukwe, while in Anambra North, he is believed to be favouring Chief Patrick Obianwu.
Also in Ogbaru Federal Constituency, the governor’s alleged candidate is the incumbent speaker of the House of Assembly, Princess Chinwe Nwaebili against the wish of the people of the area to return Mr. Afam Ogene, the incumbent member of the House of Representatives for the area.
Also, Mrs. Ejezie was said to be the governor’s candidate for the House of Representatives for Anambra East and Anambra West.
State chairman of APGA, Kwento, however, denied the allegation, saying there was no plan to doctor the delegates list from the ward congress.
According to him, APGA ward congress was transparent, adding that there was no basis for anybody to complain at this stage.
